STEVE LYSTON | STEPPING OUT OF THE BOAT

Matthew 14: 22 – 33 says, Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.  And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.  But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.

Many are going through life’s difficulties and very few are able to cope with the situations they face.  Without any doubt, Jesus is the way; but many – even before the pandemic – think they are the ones in control of their own successes over the years, but they fail to realize that it is in fact the goodness and mercy of God.  Many are questioning the deity of God and are presumptuously putting God in the class of other gods.

Many today are attempting to oppress Christians because of the financial storms and other issues many now face, and refuse to look into themselves to see how they have contributed to the problems.  The free lunch will soon be over.

Stepping Out Of The Boat

God is the One who gives rain and allows it to fall on both the just and the unjust.  When He opens doors, no man can close them and when He shuts the doors, no man can open them.  He is in control in the midst of the depression and recession.

Regardless of what is happening globally, it is critical for us to step out of the boat.  We need faith to walk in the supernatural.  We have to look to God as our source.  We cannot take our eyes off of Him.

Don’t look at the problems you are going through.  Crossing over brings turbulence at times.  The greatest blessing happens when you move by faith.

It is critical that we begin to wake up in the morning – 3 a.m. to 6 a.m., which is the 4th watch – in intercession and worship and wrestle with God in order to cross over.

Many of us are sitting for too long inside the boat, going around in circles.  Understand that the moment you step out and step on water we may have storm winds or boisterous winds.  Jesus said we must follow Him, even during life’s difficulties. When He moves, it is so good, that we might even think it is too good to be true.

Jesus is calling His people to come.  When He says come, He is calling you to the next level of prosperity and blessing.  In order to come, we oftentimes will need to step out and step down onto the path of prosperity before you can walk on water.  We must come out of our comfort zone and come out from among those without faith.  If everyone is fearful, we will not be able to help each other, so someone will need to stop out by faith in order to see change.  We must ignore the boisterous wind and turbulence that is supposed to distract us and look beyond fear, doubt, delay.

We are all given a vision, and this is the time to birth that vision.  When adverse circumstances come, Kingdom-people must face it with cheer, without complaint, knowing the Lord will handle the situation.  The master always responds to faith, even when we are sinking.  When we cry out to God for help, He will always answer and He will never allow us to sink unless He is going to teach us to swim.

We must remember that God gives us benefits on a daily basis, and it is critical for us to discern to receive those benefits.  There are many, who because of fear, have been allowing the wind to toss them all around as they sit in the boat.

It is time for you to step out of the boat as there are great blessings on the other side.
