When will mankind understand that regardless of their plans, God has the final say! He rules in the earth!
The more we try to remove God’s presence and principles from the governing of a nation, the more chaos, crime and confusion will increase. Every leader and government are accountable to God. God ordained the institution of government for the regulation of human affairs; and one of the rights of any government is to protect the rights of its citizens. Government is a respected institution extended to all. No government is independent of God’s rule!
Governments must seek God for wisdom on:
What is God’s number one priority for a nation or for his people in a season?
What laws should they institute or remove in a season?
How to please Him (God)
Any government that tries to please the people and the investors at the expense of displeasing God, will have a short tenure! There are leaders – locally and globally – who are listening to everyone else except God and what He has to say! We cannot build a nation without seeking God and applying His principles.
Benjamin Franklin – Past President of the USA – quoted from Psalms 127, Daniel 4 and Genesis 11 as he spoke to Congress, “Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that “except the Lord build the house they labor in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel. . . I therefore beg leave to move—that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessings on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business”
How many leaders, government offices, security forces or private businesses and institutions know this, and how many take time out to even take time out of have a retreat or daily Devotions in their organizations to seek God on how to run the affairs of the organization or nation?
It is better to be ridiculed and laughed at by men as you seek God’s direction, and then succeed as a result; than to be accepted by men and fail God!
Local and International Focus
Everyone has their eyes and ears tuned to the USA’s upcoming election and the rivalry between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton. One says their topic is ‘Make America Great Again!’ The other says we are ‘Stronger Together’. However, without God, His principles, presence and blessings, can that really happen? Although God allowed America to be great, greatness can only continue and be maintained with God’s grace, favor and blessing! This is why God wants America to turn back to Him!
Ezekiel 22: 30 reminds us that God is looking for people to stand in the gap that the repairs and restoration can take place. When there is a breach, anything can and will take place. America needs to focus on rebuilding the Spiritual walls that have been torn down, not on the physical walls! Likewise, the same problem exists in Jamaica. Jamaica is trying to build on a foundation that is already broken down! There are no walls or gates, and implementing laws and harsh measures on the poor will not bring change; in fact, that will continue to keep the nation in political instability, and cause the people to be rejected by other nations; furthermore, the nation’s sovereignty will weaken.
When a nation continually disobeys God, then foreigners will rule over the nation. Deuteronomy 28: 43 – 44 says, “The alien who is among you shall rise higher and higher above you, and you shall come down lower and lower. He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail.”
Prioritize
Because leaders fail to obey God and seek Him, the priorities of many are skewed. Meanwhile, they look to man to solve the problems that arise. We should never take our eyes from Jeremiah 17: 5 – 8. The priority locally and globally should be
To focus on the poor,
Restore the family,
Rebuild a fair justice system,
Have universal health care,
Have a fair immigration system (to include calling an Amnesty)
Have a fair business and political environment where small businesses can compete and,
Finally, we need to put leaders in strategic positions, who have mercy and compassion.
