AGRICULTURE – TOMORROW’S SOLUTION
Agriculture is the single largest employer in the world, providing livelihoods for 40 per cent of today’s global population. It is the largest source of income and jobs for poor rural households. 500 million small farms worldwide, most still rainfed, provide up to 80 per cent of food consumed in a large part of the developing world. Investing in smallholder women and men is an important way to increase food security and nutrition for the poorest, as well as food production for local and global markets.
Our organization believes that the majority of the substance of a person comes from the ground, and that in order to achieve Sustainable Development Goal number 2, we must play our part in doing so, and RWOMI wants to be a part of that solution, by promoting self-reliance, teaching others to eat what they grow.
Additionally, we want to carry out research and development, farming techniques, and provide seeds farmers as well as vital information they need to develop agricultural information including Logistical Land Preparation and Storage.
We believe that this area – agriculture/farming – will be one of the most highly demanded areas in the famine ahead, and it is critical for the globe to have a long-term agricultural policy and infrastructure for the survival of the nations; and it starts with teaching each household.
GREENHOUSES
Growing greenhouse vegetables is one of the most thorough and intensive forms of all agricultural enterprises. Greenhouses are capital-intensive (depending on one’s situation), require high to low technology, and is highly productive. In order to achieve success, a grower must have a clear understanding and knowledge of the following critical factors:
· Marketing Distribution
· Vegetable Type and Variety
· Location
· Green House Design and Environmental Control
There are a number of different produce crops you can try in the greenhouse, but here are some primary options you should look into if you’re considering adding vegetables to your mix, including:
Leafy and Micro Greens
Spinach
Cucumbers
Tomatoes
Peppers
Eggplants
Herbs
Green Beans
Swiss Chard
Squash
Melons
Cantaloupes
Raspberries.
Other greenhouse options include bedding plants, potted flowers, ornamentals and tree seedlings. With a greenhouse, you can create the optimum growing environment for plants, whether you're growing herbs, vegetables, flowers or other types of plants. Creating an optimum growing environment helps you to enhance the growth of plants, giving you the benefit of healthier, better producing plants, protection form pests, predators and severe weather, grow plants without dangerous pesticides, keep beneficial insects inside. You can easily modify the greenhouse to your needs, allowing you to grow your own food, save energy, most of all, benefit from relaxation and stress relief.
Happy growing! Keep it green.
