STEVE LYSTON | THINGS SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE DO

Being successful is hard work.  It means living a disciplined life of dedication to achieving the necessary goals; and sadly, there are too many people in society who want to become a millionaire overnight.

God does not look at prosperity the same way we do.  Man sees prosperity as having a big house, a top of the line vehicle and a hefty sum in the bank; and some will do anything to get it.  However, God sees true prosperity as starting with Salvation.  Each person must receive salvation, and seek to live a holy life to honor Him.  Furthermore, a person must be in God’s will, fulfilling His purpose.  Each must be on God’s schedule, and so a person’s career is not what brings true prosperity.

Understanding Prosperity

Prosperity is about being at the right place at the right time according to the plan and the will of God.  The first thing to understand about prosperity is that there must be a willingness to obey God.  We have had to minister to persons of different professions of different cultures, and God will often have us tell the individual to leave their current profession for a different one.  Some would reject it and walk away, not realizing that they are robbing themselves of true prosperity and the fulfillment of a greater purpose.

The second thing is a renewed mind.  Every successful person tends to view things differently.  They don’t waste time on the problem, but instead use the problem to identify a solution and then use that solution as a money-making venture. So, a renewed mind has faith and think nothing is impossible.

Good Habits Of A Successful Person

Successful people value good people around them, because they know that you cannot be successful without good people.  Successful people inspire others around them, and they are also aware that change begins at the top not at the bottom.  So, they are willing to change first.  Many politicians, for example, talk about change, and want others to change, but they themselves refuse to change.

Successful persons pray daily and read God’s word for instructions.  In addition to that, they Tithe and always give to the poor.  (Malachi 3 and Psalm 41).

Successful people live a life of forgiveness because they know how important it is to do so.  They put their trust in God first and confess positive words over their lives, business and church daily.  They know the power of the tongue. They walk in great faith, because they know that faith without works is dead!

Successful people don’t use failure as a setback, but instead they use it to advance them to the next level.

Successful people always fear God.  They also have a vision. They are always putting people first, and are not selfish.  They walk in humility, and they are always consistent in what they do.

Successful people recognize that how you see yourself, is how you see God, and God does not see us the way we see ourselves.  We may see ourselves as grasshoppers, when God declares the we are lion-killers.

Successful people also know that when we are at the right place there is always provision.  (Deuteronomy 28). When God wants to promote us, He connect us with the right person.  When the enemy wants to de-rail us, he sends the wrong persons into our lives.

Successful people also know that working for people will not allow you to be a millionaire; but having your own business can.

For successful persons, time management is key.  They place great value on managing their time to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.  They read books and other motivational material that will help them to be better at what they do.  They never forget where they are coming from, and they always create opportunity from every negative encounter they have.

Successful people are not afraid to make changes, nor are they offended by constructive criticism.  They also value networking and are fully aware that contact information is invaluable.  They know that success is a journey that does not take place overnight.

Are you willing to take the journey to success?
